Why a Blog?

I had a blog in 2011.

Did you? Seems it was trending then.

I’ll refrain from sharing what it was because it was not great.

I was making the adjustment from working mom to stay at home mom and frankly, I was bored.

This blog is different. It’s a decade later and I’m no longer trying to fill time. My time is more limited than ever. This website launch has helped me narrow down what my passions are. What I’m called to.

I love God. I love people. I love seeing God change people (myself included). I love how the transformation of lives displays the purpose of life: to know God and make Him known.

This will be a blog about that.

I’ve spent the last decade as a counselor, spiritual director, coach and mentor. I have loved walking with people one on one. I began to dream about how I could share a bit more broadly.

I want to bring the tools and intricacies of the counseling office and spiritual direction experience to you in the comfort of your home or at the coffee shop or park where you are reading this.

This will not take the place of you pursuing counseling, meeting with a spiritual director, walking through life with a friend or confiding in a mentor.

I hope this blog MOTIVATES you to take a step. I hope it makes growth more ACCESSIBLE. I hope it makes CHANGE seem possible. I hope it provides INSPIRATION and RESOURCES.

Lasting change is possible. It doesn’t come through self love or self help (more on that later).

It comes through understanding that you are part of a bigger story.

Life isn’t primarily about you (spoiler alert: this is GREAT news).

It’s about a perfect God who made you in His image and wants to conform you to His likeness.

He does this through many means (that we will explore together).

There’s just one requirement.

Willingness. Humility, Surrender. Teachability.

Fortunately, (although it often feels unfortunate) life’s struggles, whether brought on by ourselves or simply through the brokenness of the world can bring us to this place.

Maybe that’s why you’re reading this today. You are ready to admit that you need to change. And that information and willpower have not been enough.

Let’s journey together.

In this with you,

Lauren
